The Glass of Time: The Secret Life of Miss Esperanza Gorst Narrated by Herself

The Glass of Time - Michael Cox I read The Meaning of Night some time ago, and although I quite enjoyed it it hasn't stuck in my memory. This follow-up novel was far more up my street. It's a good old-fashioned murder/blackmail mystery in the Wilkie Collins tradition (clearly intended, as Collins is referenced many times), but unfortunately the plot twists were so glaringly obvious they may as well have been signposted. However, despite this rather obvious flaw, I did enjoy following the story to its dramatic finale and was impressed by the writing.
