I really liked this, although at first I found it hard to like the characters. Eggers has a real knack for creating convincing internal monolgues, and this study of a man of the edge of total breakdown seemed very plausible. Reading his work always makes me feel like I'm travelling in the mind of his characters, which can be painful and difficult but always totally rewarding. He is definitely the most original voice in contemporary literature. I'd probably recommend you read A Heartbreaking Work Of Staggering Genius first though, as it reveals what makes him tick, and give you a taste of his style. It's not for everyone, but I love it.
