The Short Day Dying

The Short Day Dying - Peter Hobbs

I'm really not sure why I liked this book so much. It's certainly beautifully written, and perfectly evokes the inner turmoil of its characters and raises questions about life, belief and human fallibility. The plot, such as it is, involves a lonely preacher questioning his faith, and that's it. It's a tough sell, but trust me, it's utterly enchanting.
